Nervous Dog (Train to Groom Program) $600+gst

This program is catered to those dogs who are very nervous of grooming and usually have had a bad experience at another groomer or were sent to us for this program.
This is an 8+ week program working to change your dog's negative associations to grooming to positive ones so that they can feel good about grooming, especially those dogs that will need it throughout their life.
How does it work?
Bring your dog to Brilliant Best Friends once a week, on either Mondays or Fridays (You will decide a day of the week when booking). They will spend most of the day with us coming in in the am and picking up anytime after 3:30pm. At the beginning we just want them to become comfortable with us to start. Once they feel comfortable enough for us to start handling - we will then begin desensitizing them to the parts of grooming they find scary while pairing high value treats to change their associations.
Most dogs graduate from the program around 8 weeks, but every dog is different and we need to work at their pace to ensure we are building good associations to grooming for them and not speeding through the program "just to get it done". If your dog needs more than 8 weeks to complete the program that is OK! There is no extra charges to you, just keep bringing them until they are ready.
At the end of the program (8 weeks or so) your dog will have a full haircut that is covered in the cost of this program, and your dog will forever have 10% every groom at BBF!
-We sometimes ask graduated dogs to come back for a few "refresher train to groom days" when needed to help your dog continue to feel good about grooming.
Intro to Grooming (Train to Groom Program) $500+gst

This program can be completed in 5 weeks - sometimes puppies may need longer and that's OK!
Train to groom is a training package that is catered to grooming, it is a little different for each dog because each dog is so unique in their needs, for example, if your dog is more nervous of the dryer then the clippers we will spend more time building a positive association to the dryer. Our goal is to help Fido learn that grooming doesn't need to be scary and to help them get used to a regular schedule.

We will be pairing high value treats to parts of grooming they might find scary to build positive associations to the process. We will work with all the grooming tools your dog will need used on them throughout their lifetime.
This is a great program for those of you that have a doodle puppy and are sure you will want long and fluffy "teddy bear" cuts.
At the end of the program your dog will have a full haircut that is covered in the cost of this program, and your dog will forever have 10% every groom at BBF!
IMPORTANT
Please bring your dogs favourite treat for us to use to pair with all the grooming experiences to make it as positive as possible.
During the duration of this training it is very important that you do not practice any grooming or parts of grooming with your dog. We have a very precise schedule with importance on the way each grooming situation is set up to give your dog the most success.
If you decide to take your dog to another groomer or try a "home haircut" the 10% off discount is voided. This program is to build a good association to grooming and if you are using another groomer or trying to cut hair at home we cannot guarantee that the same low stress methods are being used.
